About Us
The Joint Mediation Helpline Office (“the JMHO”) is a non-profit-making organization established in 2010 with a view to promoting the use of mediation as a means of dispute resolution in Hong Kong. With effect from 14 July 2011, the JMHO has been recognized as a charitable institute and is exempted from tax under Section 88 of the Inland Revenue Ordinance. The JMHO consists of 8 member organizations, namely, the Hong Kong Mediation Council Limited, the Hong Kong Bar Association, the Law Society of Hong Kong, the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (East Asia Branch), the Hong Kong Institute of Arbitrators, the Hong Kong Institute of Architects, the Hong Kong Mediation Centre and the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers.

Objectives:
To provide assistance on a non-profit making basis to parties seeking to settle disputes by mediation
To promote and advance mediation as a dispute resolution mechanism and provide mediator referral services to parties to a dispute requesting mediation;
To enhance the knowledge and upgrade skills in dispute resolution in and among professionals, businesses and other users of mediation services, and to promote the effective use of mediation in resolving local and international disputes.

The operation of the JMHO is overseen by a board of directors, who represents the respective founding members. They are: -
